His research focuses on integrating physics-based approaches with <em>machine learning<\/em> to develop faster and more efficient reservoir simulation methods, including applications for <em>Enhanced Oil Recovery<\/em> (EOR) and <em>Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage<\/em> (CCUS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Academic Background and Professional Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Billal menyelesaikan pendidikan Sarjana dan Magister Teknik Perminyakan di Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), kemudian meraih gelar Ph.D. <em>in<\/em> <em>Petroleum Engineering<\/em> from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). His doctoral research focused on <em>Hybrid Physics\u2013Data Driven Reduced-Order Modeling for Reservoir Simulation<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His professional experience spans academia, research, and industry, including roles at KAUST, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Pertamina EP, and PT LAPI ITB. His experience includes <em>Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage<\/em> (CCUS), <em>reservoir simulation<\/em> for <em>Chemical EOR<\/em>, as well as oil and gas reserves estimation, reserves certification, and reserves auditing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the field of research, Billal has authored several scientific publications in the SPE Journal and has presented his work at international Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) conferences. His research focuses on the development of <em>deep learning<\/em>, <em>hybrid physics\u2013data driven modeling<\/em>and their applications to simulation <em>fractured reservoirs <\/em>dan CO\u2082 <em>sequestration<\/em>.
