OGRINDO ITB successfully held its 20th Annual Meeting on Thursday–Friday, 19–20 September 2024, at the Energy Building Auditorium and the EOR Laboratory at ITB. This event marked a significant milestone in OGRINDO’s two-decade journey as a strategic bridge between academia and industry in driving innovation in the oil and gas sector, particularly in Indonesia.
Over the course of two days, the event featured hands-on Chemical EOR laboratory training and a collaborative research exhibition. Both sessions served as a platform for knowledge sharing, strengthening networking, and showcasing the latest research relevant to current challenges in the oil and gas industry.
🧪 Day One: Chemical EOR Laboratory Training
The first day began with an introduction to the fundamentals of Chemical EOR, focusing on the application of surfactants and polymers, held at the Energy Building Auditorium. Participants then continued with hands-on training sessions at the EOR Laboratory. The training covered the following topics:
- CMC–IFT Measurement (Spinning Drop Tensiometer)
- Viscosity Test (Brookfield Rheometer)
- Aqueous Stability Test English
- Phase Behavior Test English
- Adsorpsi Statis & Dinamis
- Wettability Test English
- Injectivity Test English
- Capillary Desaturation Curve
- Coreflooding Test English
- Micromodel
To ensure effectiveness, the training was limited to the first 30 registered participants. Attendees gained direct experience using advanced laboratory equipment supporting EOR research.

🚀 Day Two: Research Exhibition by OGRINDO and Partners
The second day featured a research exhibition by OGRINDO researchers and partner institutions, presenting innovative solutions to current energy sector challenges. Topics included:
- Application of biosurfactants for Sandstone Reservoirs
- Effect of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in the oil–water–rock system
- Live micromodel demonstrations to visualize EOR mechanisms
- Multiphase zeta potential to understand wettability of CO₂
- Development of CO₂ Microbubble Generator and EoS modeling for CCUS & EOR
- Risk analysis of sanding due to CO₂ injection in the Air Benakat reservoir, South Sumatra
- Development of desktop tools for Chemical EOR in Indonesian oilfields
This series of activities not only showcased internal research by OGRINDO but also encouraged cross-institutional collaboration to develop field-ready solutions.
