From 13 to 15 January 2025, researchers from Ogrindo attended training to increase knowledge and competency regarding the PVT Cell 300 ml 700 bar Full Visibility Educational tool. This training was held by the Petroleum Engineering Study Program of the Bandung Institute of Technology and was carried out at the Purnomo Yusgiantoro EOR Lab, Labtek XVII Dato' Dr Building. Low Tuck Kwong 2nd Floor.
This training was guided by representatives from Sanchez Technologies, Core Lab from France. Also present were researchers from Purnomo Yusgiantoro EOR Lab ITB at this training.
The training event began with an introduction to the Full Visibility Educational PVT tool. After that, a trial determination operation was carried out bubble point pressure dari sampel minyak mentah. Lalu, pelatihan ditutup dengan demonstrasi prosedur untuk pembersihan alat PVT Full Visibility Educational setelah eksperimen dan pemeliharaan dasar.
Basically, PVT FV EDU FV can perform the entire range of experiments that PVT FV can perform with crude oil, volatile oil or gas condensate:
The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) collaborates with Udayana University to organize International Conference on Physics and Technology of Advanced Materials (ICPTAM) which is combined with 8th Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Symposium (NNS) Workshop 2024. The event will take place on the Island of the Gods, Bali, from 7 to 10 October 2024.
This conference aims to bring together researchers in the field of advanced materials, both from Indonesia and from various countries in the world. Apart from strengthening research collaboration, this event is also an opportunity for self-development and increasing insight into the latest developments in the field of research-based physics and materials technology.
As a biennial international symposium that has been running since 2008, ICPTAM continues to be an important forum for sharing knowledge and innovation. This year, the conference is supported by Materials Research Society of Indonesia (MRS-Id) and Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI).
At this conference, Ogrindo ITB had the opportunity to present two researchers as representatives to publish research with the title "Interfacial properties improvement of AEC surfactant via Titanium dioxide nanoparticles“. This research examines the addition of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) nanoparticles to Alkyl Ethoxy Carboxylate (AEC) surfactant to improve interfacial properties in applications. Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). The results show that TiO₂ significantly reduces the interfacial tension (IFT) to two orders of magnitude lower, although its effect on the contact angle is only slight. This combination has the potential to increase EOR efficiency by mobilizing trapped oil in the reservoir.
Also present was Prof. Osamu Sugino from The University of Tokyo, Japan and Prof. Hadi Nur from Malang State University, Indonesia as the two main speakers. Apart from that, there were also prominent plenary speakers from various countries, such as South Korea, Taiwan, Great Britain, Thailand, the People's Republic of China (PRC), Japan and Singapore.
This conference is open to all topics related to nanoscience and nanotechnology, including but not limited to:
OGRINDO ITB successfully held its 20th Annual Meeting on Thursday–Friday, 19–20 September 2024, at the Energy Building Auditorium and the EOR Laboratory at ITB. This event marked a significant milestone in OGRINDO’s two-decade journey as a strategic bridge between academia and industry in driving innovation in the oil and gas sector, particularly in Indonesia.
Over the course of two days, the event featured hands-on Chemical EOR laboratory training and a collaborative research exhibition. Both sessions served as a platform for knowledge sharing, strengthening networking, and showcasing the latest research relevant to current challenges in the oil and gas industry.
🧪 Day One: Chemical EOR Laboratory Training
The first day began with an introduction to the fundamentals of Chemical EOR, focusing on the application of surfactants and polymers, held at the Energy Building Auditorium. Participants then continued with hands-on training sessions at the EOR Laboratory. The training covered the following topics:
CMC–IFT Measurement (Spinning Drop Tensiometer)
Viscosity Test (Brookfield Rheometer)
Aqueous StabilityTest English
Phase BehaviorTest English
Adsorpsi Statis & Dinamis
WettabilityTest English
InjectivityTest English
Capillary Desaturation Curve
Coreflooding Test English
Micromodel
To ensure effectiveness, the training was limited to the first 30 registered participants. Attendees gained direct experience using advanced laboratory equipment supporting EOR research.
🚀 Day Two: Research Exhibition by OGRINDO and Partners
The second day featured a research exhibition by OGRINDO researchers and partner institutions, presenting innovative solutions to current energy sector challenges. Topics included:
Application of biosurfactants for Sandstone Reservoirs
Effect of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in the oil–water–rock system
Live micromodel demonstrations to visualize EOR mechanisms
Multiphase zeta potential to understand wettability of CO₂
Development of CO₂ MicrobubbleGenerator and EoS modeling for CCUS & EOR
Risk analysis of sanding due to CO₂ injection in the Air Benakat reservoir, South Sumatra
Development of desktop tools for Chemical EOR in Indonesian oilfields
This series of activities not only showcased internal research by OGRINDO but also encouraged cross-institutional collaboration to develop field-ready solutions.
